Charleston & Savannah

August 24, 2017

Last week I had the opportunity to go to Charleston and Savannah for a quick getaway. I think we spent as much, if not more time in the car then we did exploring, but wandering those quaint streets was really a joy.

The first day we arrived in Charleston (after 7 hours in the car it began downpouring… LIKE DOWNPOURING…) we made the most of it, as my glasses/ camera lens kept fogging up from the humidity and heat.  We wandered in the pouring rain for about 30 minutes in rain coats, trying to take in the beauty of the city as best we could. Sweating and Soaking wet we found our way to a local coffee shop for iced coffee and refuge from the rain.

Once it stopped though, the air had cooled, and we light was beautiful. We meandered all over the city,  attempting to avoid huge puddles, and getting splashed by cars more than once… (I thought that only happened in movies!) Taking in sites like Rainbow Row, the Historic Market, and sharing delicious meals at Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit and Hominy Grill were really a treat.

Savannah was another day trip, we went to Mass at St. John the Baptist, which was absolutely beautiful. Walked along River Street which was full of darling little shops, and the iconic River Boat. We painted in the park, and sipped copious amounts of iced coffee. We also wandered into several candy stores to sample their delicious world famous Pralines… Also, The Paris Market is the LOVELIEST shop… It is a cross between Antropologie, Paper Source, with the most delicious coffee and Macarons.  If you are ever in Savannah- just go… I promise you won’t regret it.
