Timeless Wedding at St. Mary’s Catholic Church

October 24, 2017

John & Cady had a timeless wedding at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The wedding day was completely lovely. I think my favorite part of the day was taking portraits in Old Town Alexandria. Cobblestone streets, ivy covered archways, and a gorgeous couple, it was delightful.  The bridesmaid’s Mayan blue, Jenny Yoo dresses were also really elegant! I loved how the dress was convertible, and how each bridesmaid styled it differently! The soft blue tulle paired beautifully with their fuchsia flowers.

John and Cady’s wedding mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Old Town, one of the oldest parishes in the area. Not only was the nuptial mass beautiful, it was also really special. Fr. Kleinmann, the priest who married John and Cady was a family friend, and had known Cady since childhood. Once mass concluded, and John and Cady were officially man and wife, family and friends boarded shuttle buses to the Mount Vernon Country Club.

Guests mingled on the back patio of the Mount Vernon Country Club, enjoying cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a view of the golf course as we finished up family portraits. One portrait that struck me in particular, was a photo this sweet couple took with Cady’s parent’s entire bridal party. It was such a beautiful testament to the power of good friendship. It really was the sweetest!

The rest of the reception went beautifully. The way John looked at Cady during the first dance, was very telling of his love for his sweet new bride, and the way Cady’s dress twirled on the dance floor, made it seem even more like a fairytale. I loved the way Cady’s dad acknowledged everyone at the reception who had formerly served, or was currently serving, in the United States Armed Forces. This wedding was truly wonderful, full of friendship, love, and an appreciation for the important things in life. John and Cady, I wish you nothing but happiness in your new lives together. It was such a gift to be present at your wedding.
